Commercial Harvesting Improvements Program / CHIP
Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) is pleased to announce the Commercial Harvesting Improvements Program (CHIP) for Métis citizens residing in the northern region of the province.
This pilot program is directed at Métis commercial harvesters looking for investment in their existing operations. The assistance can be put toward building, maintaining, or improving structures that support commercial harvesting practices and traditional land use activities such as fishing and trapping.
The pilot program will address the needs of northern communities that have been impacted in recent years by wildfire destruction and the loss of traditional land use structures. The program will help citizens and families in remote communities secure the basic shelter required to live on the land while carrying out traditional commercial harvesting activities essential to their livelihood and economic stability.
Eligible applicants must submit all program requirements by March 31, 2024. Recipients will have until September 2024 to complete their projects.
