MN-S encourages Annual Influenza Vaccine
September 2, 2020 – As the world waits for a vaccine to fight COVID-19, Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Ministry of Health would like to remind citizens that ‘flu season’ is right around the corner and strongly recommends citizens get their annual influenza vaccine, especially if you are at a higher risk for infection.
It is of particular importance this year as our children prepare to enter into another school year. Influenza season typically begins mid-November and lasts through to mid-May. Watch for updates on flu clinic availability in your respective regions and protect yourselves and your families from the onset.
While current models are predicting less than the average number of flu cases this season due to the COVID-19 precautions, the high-risk groups overlap. And, just as with COVID-19, proper handwashing and distancing practices should be employed by everyone.
More information the flu season is available here.
