Kishkayhta – Online Youth Conference March 22, 23 and 24, 2022

March 10, 2022 – Kishkayhta is Heritage Michif for learning. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society are partnering to educate our youth about Métis culture, heritage and language with an online conference.

The Kishkayhta Métis culture and community youth conference features Métis Elders and Knowledge Keepers sharing experiences and expertise. Learn traditional Métis recipes like bannock baking and fish fileting from Yvonne Maurice. Hear MN–S Elder Norman Fleury talk about the value of preserving the Michif language. Listen to traditional Métis music with Adam Daigneault. Autumn LaRose-Smith will share her journey to becoming MN–S Youth President and Vince Ahenakew teaches us to read Michif.

The Youth Conference schedule is here.

The conference will be two hours each day, March 22 to 24, 2022, starting at 9 am CST, on the MN–S Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MNSask

The collaborative youth conference is specifically designed with grades 9-12 students in mind but is open to all Canadians. For more information, email [email protected]
