MN–S congratulates ‘Fiddle Master’ John Arcand for lifetime achievement

December 12, 2022 – There’s no question, Métis fiddle music is unique, distinct, and no matter where you go in this country – when you hear the Métis fiddle, one name comes to mind — John Arcand.

John Arcand has dedicated his life to the preservation of Métis fiddle music, with a multi-page catalogue of recordings. As host of the Fiddle Fest for more than two decades, John has been a mentor to young Métis fiddle players, generously passing on his cultural passion and extensive knowledge of the instrument to be celebrated and enjoyed for generations to come.

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) President Glen McCallum congratulates the “Master of the Métis Fiddle” for receiving the 2022 SaskMusic Indigenous Achievement Award.
