Record crowd enjoys Back to Batoche Days 2023
July 25, 2023 – Batoche, SK – The 2023 Back to Batoche Days festival drew a crowd of over 40,000 to celebrate Métis culture July 20 to 23. The Year of the Youth featured events for all ages, including live performances, traditional teachings, rodeo events, Métis food, artisans, and much more.
Celebrations kicked off during Friday’s opening ceremonies, with dignitaries such as Métis National Council President Cassidy Caron and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe in attendance. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan President Glen McCallum was honoured during Sunday’s fiddle tribute to John Arcand with a personalized tune from the Master of Métis Fiddle himself. A media release is here.
