MN–S Invests in Housing for Métis Seniors and Families

May 15, 2024 – The need for affordable housing continues to be at a critical level in Saskatchewan. Citizen engagements across the province have indicated the need for safe, affordable housing. The MN–S government is listening and responding with a more than $2 million dollar housing investment in Lloydminster and Meadow Lake.

These two projects include four semi-detached, two-bedroom affordable units for Métis seniors in Lloydminster and four three-bedroom affordable rental units in Meadow Lake for Métis families. These builds are based on priority and mark the beginning of what will be a busy construction season for the MN–S government.

MN–S Infrastructure and Housing Minister Loretta King said, “The housing market in this province is so competitive and the need for affordable housing is great. Our MN–S government knows there is more to be done and we are answering the more urgent calls for accommodation in a timely manner.”

Construction is underway in both Lloydminster and Meadow Lake, and the keys will be turned over to the new occupants in 2025.
