March 17th, 2020 – Métis Nation – Saskatchewan update on COVID-19
The MN-S wishes to thank everyone on the front lines of the COVID-19 situation, from the health care workers and emergency response teams, to those who are keeping our grocery stores and pharmacies running.
We would once again emphasize the necessity of practicing proper hygiene and social distancing to protect our families, communities, and most vulnerable citizens—including those with underlying health conditions and our cherished Elders, who have served as our mentors and knowledge-keepers for so many years. It is important that we check in on each other, even if this situation calls for different ways of doing so. MN-S and each individual citizen can safeguard our community health and well-being by taking proactive measures to prevent transmission. We are a caring community who looks out for each other.
The Canadian Blood services has urged all donors to book and keep their appointments and have added new protective measures which went into effect on Monday March 16th, 2020. Please donate if you can. Guidelines for the new Canadian Blood Services eligibility requirements is available here.
On March 17th, the Chief Medical Health Officer of Saskatchewan issued a Public Health Order to help control the transmission of COVID-19 available here.
