About the Métis
Vaccinated Métis Strong
At Métis Nation–Saskatchewan, we are committed to ensuring the health and wellness of our citizens by promoting the importance of immunization. Vaccines play a crucial role in protecting our communities from preventable viruses like influenza, COVID-19, and more. By getting vaccinated, we not only protect ourselves but also help safeguard our Elders, children, and those with underlying health conditions. Together, we can strengthen our collective well-being and remain a resilient and healthy community.
Why Immunization Matters
Immunizations help prevent the spread of contagious diseases, reduce the burden on our healthcare system, and protect those most vulnerable in our community. Flu shots are especially important as influenza can lead to severe complications, particularly for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. By staying up to date with recommended vaccinations, Métis families can contribute to the overall health of our Nation.

Recommendations for Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines:
- Influenza vaccine recommendation is one dose per year, ideally in fall or winter before the flu season starts.
- Everyone 6 months or older is eligible for the flu shot. For adults 65 years and older, it’s recommended to receive the high-dose flu vaccine.
- You should get an updated COVID-19 vaccine dose if it has been at least 6 months since:
- your last COVID-19 vaccine dose, or
- the last time you had COVID-19 (whichever was later).
- People 6 months of age and older can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other recommended vaccines, including the flu shot.
