Métis Nation-Saskatchewan want to help your child gear up for school by providing all eligible children ages 3 to 13 a backpack filled with school supplies.

Gear Up for Schools Backpacks are limited, don’t wait to apply!

Eligibility Criteria:

Here’s what you need to know to qualify under this year’s program:

  • The child(ren) must be an MN-S citizen or in the process of acquiring citizenship. Visit our website https://metisnationsk.com/citizenship/  for citizenship information.

  • The child must be between the ages of 3 to 13 years old

  • The child must reside within Saskatchewan.

Reminder: This application is for the Gear Up for Schools Backpacks. The application for cultural packages will be launched in the fall of 2024. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Declaration of Truth and Consent

  1. The applicant declares that all the information given is true and complete
  2. The child(ren) must be an MN-S citizen or in the process of acquiring citizenship. Visit our website https://metisnationsk.com/citizenship/ for citizenship information.
  3. The applicant gives consent to MN-S and its agents to investigate and disclose any of the facts given in this application form for internal purposes or to other agents.
  4. The applicant acknowledges and agrees that the facts given in this application form will be kept and disposed of as required by The Archives and Public Records Management Act
  5. The applicant agrees that MN-S may collect data for report and funding purposes
  6. The applicant agrees that MN-S may be required to complete surveys at any given time
  7. The applicant understands that this application does not obligate MN-S to approve funding or materials

"Applicant" refers to the Metis citizen who applies for the Childcare Subsidy Program. The applicant must be a parent or primary caregiver of the child for at least 50% of the time. The applicant is responsible for all communications with MN-S.

"Secondary Applicant" refers to another parent or caregiver living at the same address as the applicant and/or child. The secondary applicant has access to information and the status of application progress. The secondary applicant cannot make changes or updates to the original application. The secondary applicant cannot apply for the same program as the applicant UNLESS it is for other children not listed under the applicant.
