Strengthening the Heart of our Nation – A Review of Métis Locals

The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan Government has embarked on a new journey. Led by Michael Gatin, the Commissioner for Review of Locals, a series of forums will be held. The Commissioner will be reaching out to Métis citizens, communities, Locals, and leadership to invite them to discuss and develop the definition and function of Métis Locals within the MN–S governance structure. The Commissioner is responsible for developing recommendations based on these engagements to strengthen Locals and ensure they have a fulsome role in a self-governing Métis Nation.

Commissioner Michael Gatin is a Métis citizen with a long career in education. His most recent position was as Superintendent of Education for Files Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council. He holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina, has served as a member of the MN–S Education Advisory Committee and the National Board for UPSTREAM. Michael is also a Qualified Mediator through the Alternative Dispute Resolution. More information about his appointment is here.
